Betty White Thanks These 2 Foods for Living to 99

Entertainment and Lifestyle

Iconic actress Betty White has just turned 99 years old, but she is just as sharp and sassy as ever. So what keeps her so energetic at her age? Here are two foods Betty White attributes to her long and healthy life.

According to Taste of Home, Betty White says that hot dogs are a key part of her healthy diet. So it is not surprising that the Associated Press reported that hot dogs and French fries were on the menu for her 99th birthday celebration.

In addition to hot dogs, Betty White also says that vodka has led her to live a long and healthy life. She said drinking it is “kind of a hobby,” and prefers it “on the rocks [with] lots and lots of lemon,” according to Life & Style.

One of Betty White’s closest friends says that a vodka martini is the actress’s go-to drink. She told Closer Weekly that “Betty loves to joke that vodka keeps her young [and] loves the image of her sitting at home in a rocking chair, drinking a martini and watching game shows.”

There is in fact some evidence that suggests a very small daily dose of vodka could provide health benefits, such as improving mood and lowering cholesterol, consuming it in large quantities as Betty implies surely could not be the reason for living to 99. But maybe it is. That same close friend also told Closer Weekly that Betty likes to joke around and “she’s not really a big drinker. That’s not her. She’ll only take a few sips of a cocktail if the occasion calls for it.”

So maybe those small doses of vodka are keeping Betty White healthy and vibrant all the way through her 90’s.

  1. I’m not so sure that hot dogs laden with salt and fat, fries loaded with carbs and alcoholic vodka are the key to reaching age 99.
