15-Year-Old Strangles Mother to Death Over Grades
Gregory Ramos, 17, of Daytona Beach, Florida has just pleaded guilty to killing his mother over an argument the two had in 2018.
Ramos entered into the plea bargain agreement in which he will get 45 years in prison for the crime.
According to local news outlet 7 News Miami, Ramos strangled his mother, Gail Cleavenger, in DeBary, FL on November 2 of 2018. Ramos was 15 and Cleavenger was 46.
Ramos then placed his mother’s dead body in a wheelbarrow and took it to the family van. He drove away and eventually buried his mother’s body on the property of a church in DeBary near their home.
“He is extremely remorseful and he regrets his actions every day. He is looking forward to having a release date and proving he can be a productive citizen,” said Ramos’s public defender, Matt Phillips.
Two of Ramos’s friends have also been charged in relation to the murder. Although they were not present at the time of the actual murder, they did try to help Ramos cover up the crime by staging a robbery at the home.
They are currently facing charges and could potentially be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
