Opioid Deaths Decrease and US Life Expectancy Increases Thanks to Trump

Health

For the past few years, the media has been busy reporting on the opioid epidemic that has taken the lives of thousands and ruined the lives of far too many families. The sewagestream media and Democrats have been busy blaming the pharmaceutical companies and even corrupt doctors for the opioid epidemic, but this is expected as they regularly target big businesses and blame them for some of the problems that Democrats themselves are responsible for.

I don’t deny that many opioid overdoses and deaths have been due to the abuse of prescription drugs, often associated with people who were prescribed these addictive drugs to relieve pain from various ailments or injuries. It’s easy for some to become addicted to the pain killers, which led former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to try to restrict the use of addictive painkillers in the city’s hospitals.

Yet, if you ask many others, a large part of the opioid epidemic was directly linked to Barack Obama’s open border policy. This policy, still held by most Democrats, has allowed drug traffickers to move tons of addictive drugs, including cocaine, heroin and pentanol.

I have friends and family in Arizona who have seen first hand the open flow of illegal and deadly drugs coming across the border into the United States. A rancher I knew told me that the illegal drug trafficking across his ranch along the southern border became too dangerous for his wife and kids, so he sent them north to live with relatives. He installed security equipment around his ranch house and obtained several guard dogs. He carries at least one gun with him at all times and even keeps a loaded gun under his pillow and another one next to his bed.

The flow of illegal drugs was so bad that former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer repeatedly invited Obama to come tour the border with her, but he always refused and denied there was any problem.

What Democrats and the sewagestream refuse to tell you is that since 2014, the life expectancy in the United States stopped increasing, largely due to the flood of illegal drugs.

When Donald Trump ran for office, he promised to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal aliens and illegal drugs. Trump has strengthened the US Border Patrol and ordered stricter border enforcement. He has been working hard to keep his promise to build as much border fencing as possible to help secure our nation.

Recent reports indicate that due to Trump’s efforts, the flow of illegal drugs into the US has decreased, the number of opioid overdose deaths has also decreased and the life expectancy in the US is increasing:

President Donald Trump’s border security policies contributed to a lowering of deaths from opioid overdoses in 2018 relative to 2017, said Dr. Nicole Saphier, author of Make America Healthy Again: How Bad Behavior and Big Government Caused a Trillion-Dollar Crisis, linking the reduction in overdose deaths to a broader increase in life expectancy across the same timeframe. She joined Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily to discuss these developments with host Alex Marlow.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) latest report on life expectancy indicated an increase of 0.1 year between 2017 and 2018.

“Drug deaths dropped almost 5 percent in 2018 after rising for 28 consecutive years in the United States,” noted Marlow.

Saphier replied, “It is great news to see that. We usually think of cardiovascular disease and cancer as our leading causes of death. However, drug doses have also crept up. We have more people dying from overdose than ever before, and for the first time, in a little bit, it’s gone down. That is largely due to our efforts regarding the opioid crisis, which we have been dealing with for about two decades. But we now have fewer people being improperly prescribed opioids, fewer people taking opioids, and the Trump administration is working very hard to keep illegal opioids off of our streets with strict border control. All of those together have led to this decrease, which is wonderful news.”

The CDC reported, “The age-adjusted rate of drug overdose deaths in 2018 (20.7 per 100,000) was 4.6% lower than in 2017 (21.7). Total overdose deaths fell by 4.1 percent in 2018 compared to 2017.

And:

Americans are rejoicing over a new report detailing how the life expectancy of US adults has increased for the first time since 2014—and it is largely because of a landmark decline in cancer mortality and drug overdoses.

According to the newly-released data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American life expectancy increased slightly from 78.6 years in 2017 to 78.7 years in 2018.

Although this is only an improvement of 0.1 years, it is still cause for celebration; the trend is partially due to a notable 4.1% drop in overdose deaths from the previous year, which is the equivalent of about 3,000 fewer fatalities.

It is also the first time that the drug overdose rate has fallen in the US since 1999.

As much as Democrats and media blame Trump for not caring about the health of Americans, the facts prove otherwise. The facts show that he cares more than any of the Democrats care.
