Teens caught in chilling video laughing about murder, days before being charged in the stabbing death of one of their parents

A video shows two Nevada teens joking about “murdering somebody” days after the death of one of their parents, whom they are now accused of killing.

Aaron Guerrero, 18, and Sierra Halseth, 16, are charged with the murder of Halseth’s father, Daniel, whose body was discovered by authorities on April 9.

The elder Halseth was found stabbed to death and burned in a house fire that authorities also believe was set by the teen couple.

They face eight additional charges including conspiracy to commit murder, arson, credit-card fraud, and robbery. The Las Vegas Review-Journal cited court documents indicating their parents had forbade them from seeing each other after discovering plans for them to run away to Los Angeles together.

In the days before the killing, the younger Halseth and Guerrero were caught on surveillance video buying a circular saw as well as bleach, lighter fluid, and disposable gloves, according to the Review-Journal.

The police believe the pair were hoping to dismember Daniel Halseth’s body. Officers told Fox 5 they found “apparent blood and tissue” on the circular saw.

After the killing, Halseth and Guerrero were believed to have fled to Salt Lake City, where they were stopped on suspicion of evading a railway fare, according to KSNV. The police discovered a bloody blanket in the car’s trunk.

Examining the pair’s cellphones, the police found the video in which the pair joked about murder.

“Welcome back to our YouTube channel: day three after murdering somebody,” Guerrero says in the video.

“Whoa, don’t put that on camera,” Halseth replies, laughing.

“It was worth it,” Guerrero says, smiling, while pretending to choke Halseth.

Halseth and Guerrero were extradited back to Las Vegas and are set to appear in court Monday.

Though Halseth’s age exempts her from the death penalty, prosecutors are said to be weighing whether to seek it for Guerrero.
