Megan Fox Says She Was Not “Preyed Upon”

Megan Fox has certainly had some “genuinely harrowing experiences” in the “ruthlessly misogynistic industry” that is Hollywood, but she says none of them involved Michael Bay.

As America continues to reckon with an epidemic of predatory fetishization targeting young girls in the aftermath of the Chris D’Elia sexual misconduct allegations, attention has returned to certain past incidents involving Fox and the Transformers director, prompting the star to take to social media to set the record straight.

In an Instagram post, Fox addressed a recently resurfaced interview with Jimmy Kimmel from 2009 in which she recounts wearing a bikini and heels and being doused with water as a 15-year-old extra in the Bay-directed film Bad Boys II, as well as an alleged incident in which Fox was forced to wash Bay’s car at his home during her Transformers audition.

In the post, Fox clarified that she was “19 or 20” at the time of the Transformers audition, no part of which took place at Bay’s home. “I was not underaged at the time and I was not made to ‘wash’ or work on someone’s cars in a way that was extraneous from the material in the actual script,” Fox wrote, explaining that the audition took place “at the Platinum Dunes studio parking lot” and adding that “there were several other crew members and employees present and I was at no point undressed or anything similar.”

May we all continue waking up❤️

Fox went on to thank concerned fans for their support, but clarified that the specific incidents which had recently come under scrutiny were “inconsequential.”

“When it comes to my direct experiences with Michael, and Steven [Spielberg] for that matter, I was never assaulted or preyed upon in what I felt was a sexual manner,” she wrote.

However, Fox was clear that all is certainly not right for young women in Hollywood. “There are many names that deserve to be going viral in cancel culture right now, but they are safely stored in the fragmented recesses of my heart,” she wrote. “I’m thankful to all of you who are brave enough to speak out and I’m grateful to all of you who are taking it upon yourselves to support, uplift and bring comfort to those who have been harmed by a violent and toxic societal paradigm.”
