Girl Accidentally Captures World’s Deadliest Sea Creature

A tourist unknowingly held one of the world’s most dangerous animals right in the palm of her hand as she recorded the whole encounter.

TikTok user @kaylinmarie21 posted a video holding a tiny little octopus with a brown body and black circle. It was just half the size of her hand.

But after a quick Google search to figure out what the cute creature was, she discovered that it was a blue-ringed octopus, which is considered one of the world’s most deadly sea creatures, containing enough poison to kill 26 humans.

What’s even scarier is that victims do not know they’ve been bitten until it’s too late.

The TikTok user shared a description of the creature that reads, “The blue-ringed octopus, despite its small size, carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans within minutes. Their bits are tiny and often painless, with many victims not realizing they have been envenomated until respiratory depression and paralysis begin. No blue-ringed octopus anti-venom is available.”

“First, the venom blocks nerve signals throughout the body, causing muscle numbness. Other symptoms include nausea, vision loss or blindness, loss of senses and loss of motor skills,” Ocean Conservancy says about the blue-ringed octopus.

“Ultimately, it will cause muscle paralysis – including the muscles needed for humans to breathe, leading to respiratory arrest. There is no known antidote, but victims can be saved if artificial respiration is started immediately,” they continued.

“Going to Bali and unknowingly holding one of the most dangerous animals. Called my dad crying 3 hours later,” the caption of the TikTok said.
