Do Cross-Sex Hormones Cause Premature Aging in Teenagers?

Wellness

Did you know that taking cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers as a teenager results in premature conditions of old age, including menopause for girls and andropause for boys?

Going through menopause before the age of 50 increases the risk of fatal cardiovascular disease in women. That is because ovaries are extremely important endocrine organs. They are part of the endocrine system, which includes all of the glands that produce and regulate hormones. Regulating these hormones is key in the body’s overall health and fitness.

When cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers are given to young girls, it can cause the ovaries to shut down 30 years sooner than they are supposed to. Usually, cross-sex hormones are given to over-ride the child’s natural estrogen or testosterone levels in order to bring about the appearance of the opposite sex.

Studies suggest that males who are prescribed oral estrogen to appear feminine have an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, and females who are given testosterone to appear masculine have an increased risk of high blood pressure and diabetes.

Also, female patients taking testosterone have higher rates of unsatisfactory smear tests and are more likely to suffer painful vaginal atrophy. Testosterone can cause uterine atrophy and prolapse, which are painful conditions that often require surgery.

Doctors usually recommend a complete hysterectomy to female testosterone users. This helps avoid testosterone-caused diseases of the female reproductive tract. However, hysterectomy increases the risk of pelvic organ prolapse, which is usually not seen outside of serious health conditions or advanced old age.

Individuals who have undergone medical transition have also complained about being diagnosed with brittle bones in their 20’s. When puberty is halted, bone mass is stunted before it can reach its adult peak. Then, when followed with cross-sex hormones, bone mass begins declining early due to artificially induced menopause or andropause.
